“Ever dreamed of subscribing to a cultural magazine that doesn’t seem to be eating out of the hand of half a dozen media magnates? Something pluricultural and unassuming but nonetheless covering everything worth seeing, reading, doing or listening to for a season? Well, it exists, and in Canada to boot!”

“There is no on-line version or web site, which either makes John a dinosaur or a man of character. (I opt for the second, since the editorial team occasionally has a kind word for me.)”

John Howe — Canadian artist and co-conceptual designer on all three “The Lord of the Rings” motion pictures.

* Editor’s Note: The age of the dinosaurs has at last come to an end — with the arrival of this website!

* Dementia & CaregivingDementia & Caregiving

Time: 6:00 pm

Taking Care - A Film and Conversation on Dementia and Caregiving on Wed. June 4, 2025 at 6 pm. At Regent Theater, Kng St. e. of Simcoe St., Oshawa, Ontario. A 38-minute documentary that follows Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen as they face the challenges of Lauren’s mother’s early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Directed by award-winning filmmaker James Keach ("Walk the Line"), the film captures the Rogens' unique blend of humor and honesty as they navigate the challenges of caregiving. Following a screening of the film, there will be a panel and discussion with the audience. Panel members will include clinicians, researchers, caregivers, and people living with dementia. We hope to explore opportunities for improving the lives of those affected by dementia and educate future generations on prevention as well as caregiving needs. We hope to spark a meaningful conversation in our community to collectively prepare for the increasing rates of dementia. Come prepared to share and learn from stories and experts. Open to people of all ages and abilities. Recommended age: 10+; age restriction: 2+. Presented by the committee for an Age-Friendly University at Ontario Tech University, in association with our Faculties of Health Sciences and Social Sciences & Humanities and the Alzheimer's Society of Durham. Free event; but tickets are required: https://tickets.regenttheatre.ca/eventperformances.asp?evt=1129
